Even though I only met you once, you will be greatly missed. Derek was a great inspiration to me and was one of the people I most looked up to and amdmired in the world. I still have the cd I recorded in his studio at the age of about four and it makes me smile to hear it. Rest in peace. All my love and hope for the future to the family. x

My condolences to his family, I met him once at a Space 1999 event at Pinewood studios, and I was in a round of drinks with him and had a great evening... He sent me a copy of his Space 1999 CD signed dedicated to me, what a generous guy, an honour to have met you Waddy!!

I was born the same year as Derek and during the early 60s played saxophone on the London scene, on some occasions with Derek. I wish there had been more. Although I left London in the mid-60s to work abroad, Derek left an impression upon me as a thoroughly gifted musician and good colleague, which I have never forgotten. I am so sad top hear of his passing and send my sincere condolences to his family and near friends
