Just read of Derek's passing. We all hung out when he was touring the States with Maynard Ferguson in the early 70s. After noticing his name on the Whales of August I e-mailed about 2002 and he was kind enough to respond. As a trombonist I was a big fan - he will be sorely missed. Too young.

I was really sorry to hear of Derek passing - he will be greatly missed - his talent has touched many and will continue to do so

I was very sorry to learn that Mr. Wadsworth had died. His work on Space 1999 is forever associated in my mind to my childhood. Whenever I listen to the soundtrack, it brings me back to 1976-77, when I was a 10 year old boy watching Space 1999 on French Canadian television. Very fond memories, thanks to the great music of Derek Wadsworth.

Somehow, I missed the fact that Derek passed away. I only discovered it this evening as I was reading the announcement of the commercial release of the music from Space: 1999 Year 2.

I've been humming Derek's Space: 1999 compositions for over 30 years! For some reason, they really stuck with me. When I wanted to create a midi rendition of the opening theme, he was very kind in helping me out.

He is greatly missed... and I'll continue to hum all that music in his honor. Godspeed, Derek.
